D’Angelo has covered environmental issues for more than a decade. He most recently worked as a senior reporter at HuffPost, where he spearheaded the outlet’s coverage of public lands, environmental policy, climate change and biodiversity loss. His investigations have triggered federal probes into high-ranking Interior Department officials, exposed industry influence campaigns at the state and federal levels, and shined light on environmental regulators’ missteps in the wake of the chemical disaster in East Palestine, Ohio. He has traveled to the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean to report on the risk of frozen methane deposits destabilizing in a warming world, staked a mineral claim in a remote corner of Utah to document the nation’s antiquated mining system, and investigated legacy chemical dumping grounds in what is now one of the most active oil drilling sites on the planet.

His work has appeared in a variety of publications via the Climate Desk partnership, including High Country News, Mother Jones, Grist and WIRED. His enterprise reporting on offshore chemical dumping was a finalist for both 2022 Deadline Club Awards and 2022 SPJ Dateline Awards.

Prior to joining HuffPost in 2015, D’Angelo spent several years writing for daily newspapers in Hawaii.

He lives with his wife and their dog in southern Maine. When not reporting down a rabbit hole, he enjoys fly fishing and making sawdust in his shop.
